Description:

Function Description
The management of projects, typically involving the development and implementation of information systems to meet identified business needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales, and quality.
Background Requirements
· Educational Background
· Educated to degree level in Science, Engineering Discipline or Computer Science.
Previous Experience
Proficiency in the Role of Project Management – ISM Level 5 or at ISM Level 5 in another relevant ISM Function.
Experience of achieving results through effective team leadership and through the planning, control and formal review of IS projects.
Prior Knowledge and Skills
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant development life-cycles and in particular the Company Project Delivery Framework.
Tasks
Mandatory Tasks
· Takes responsibility for the definition, documentation and execution of one or more small-scale projects, actively participating in all phases of the project. Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project.
· Effectively estimates costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project(s) to an agreed scope.
· Ensures that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and tracks all activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to senior IS management, and client management as appropriate.
· Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and take action where these deviate from agreed tolerances.
· Ensures that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria.
· Manages the change control procedure gaining agreement for revisions to the project(s) from project sponsors.
· Provides effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience.
· Actively represents the project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained with the business.
Optional Tasks
· Evaluates and makes recommendations/decisions on technical options as appropriate.
· Ensures that own projects are closed out and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured and actioned.
· Produces appropriate documentation to support these processes.
